The best time for a photoshoot in Antalya

The single biggest thing that makes holiday photos look professional is light — here’s how to time your Antalya session.

Golden hour is the hour or so of soft, warm light right after sunrise and right before sunset, and it’s the single biggest factor in whether holiday photos look professional or look like snapshots. Harsh midday sun creates flat colour and hard shadows under eyes and noses; golden hour wraps everyone in warm, even light and turns the sea and sky into deep gold and pink. Almost every session we shoot is built around one of these two windows.

Sunrise and sunset both give beautiful light, but they suit different moods. Sunrise is quiet — empty beaches, cool morning air, soft pastel tones, and a location entirely to yourselves before the city wakes up. Sunset is warmer and more dramatic, with deeper oranges over the Beydağları mountains and a natural, easy energy as the day winds down. Most couples and families choose sunset for the atmosphere; sunrise suits guests who want a calmer, less crowded shoot or an early flight later that day.

Season changes both the light and the crowds. Spring and autumn (April–May, September–October) give the most comfortable temperatures, clear skies and softer sun even at midday, while summer’s stronger light makes the golden-hour windows shorter but more intense. Winter brings cooler, more diffused daylight that can work beautifully for old-town sessions in Kaleiçi, where direct sun matters less than in a beach setting.

Antalya’s Mediterranean climate means dry, sunny weather for most of the year, so weather rarely forces a change of plan between May and October. Outside that window, we simply keep an eye on the forecast and, if rain is expected, shift the session by a day or move it to a covered old-town route — Kaleiçi’s stone lanes still photograph well under an overcast sky.

Time of year also affects how busy each location gets. Konyaaltı and Lara beaches are calmest early morning and empty out again after sunset, while midday in July and August brings the heaviest beach crowds of the year. Kaleiçi is closer to Ottoman-era stone alleys than an open beach, so it stays photogenic even mid-afternoon, though early morning still gives the emptiest lanes for uninterrupted shots.

Picking a slot isn’t only about the sun — it’s also about matching the light to the location and the outfits you’ll wear. A flowing dress on Konyaaltı beach wants sunset’s warmth; a tailored look in Kaleiçi’s old town holds up fine in softer daytime light. If you’re combining two locations in one session, we usually plan the beach portion for the golden-hour window and the old-town portion for the hour before or after.

You don’t need to work any of this out alone. When you book, tell us your travel dates and roughly how you’d like the session to feel, and Jane will recommend the exact time slot — sunrise or sunset, and which week of your trip gives the best light for the locations you want.

Message WeCare Photoshoot on WhatsApp with your dates, and we’ll confirm a time that suits your itinerary and the light, whether you book the Mini (€89), Classic (€149) or Premium (€249) package — with edited photos delivered within 48 hours either way.
