Kurşunlu Waterfall photoshoot, Antalya’s shaded canyon

Kurşunlu Şelalesi Tabiat Parkı is a protected nature park inland of Aksu, far enough back from the coast that the sea never enters the frame. Water spills over a travertine lip into a green pool at the bottom of a wooded canyon, smaller pools step down the valley behind it, and the canopy closes over the whole thing so completely that you feel the temperature drop on the way in. The palette is dark green and wet stone rather than turquoise and pale sand, and the finished gallery looks like it was taken a few hundred kilometres north of the coast you flew to.

Start with the part most photographers leave off the page. Kurşunlu is run by the national parks directorate under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and it is ticketed. The 2026 national tariff for an Antalya Category I protected area is around ₺95 per adult; guides updated this year still quote ₺60 to ₺75, so treat ₺95 as the ceiling and confirm the day’s price at the gate. That ticket is not ours, it is not inside the package price, and it is charged per person while our packages are priced per session. Our prices page promises no hidden fees, and a charge you meet at a barrier with the dress already on is the exact thing that promise is about. A Müzekart does not help, either: that is a Ministry of Culture card, and this park answers to a different ministry.

The second cost applies only to some sessions, and it is not small. The same directorate publishes a national photography tariff, and for 2026 an outdoor wedding, engagement or civil-ceremony shoot in any Turkish nature park is priced at ₺1,860 for the day, up from ₺1,480 the year before. A standing clause in the same document doubles every rate for foreign nationals, which puts a visiting couple’s paid shoot at ₺3,720. It is arranged in advance through the 6th Regional Directorate in Antalya, on a shoot request form submitted with the payment receipt. Pay it and the gate ticket is waived; skip it on a shoot that owed it and, if you are noticed, the charge is collected at double the tariff. Cancel later than three days out and none of it comes back.

So where does an ordinary holiday session sit? On a line the rules never draw. Amateur photography is explicitly free, but the same rulebook lists commercial shoots, drone work and social-media content production as chargeable, and never says where amateur ends. A hired photographer, a posed couple and a rented dress do not look amateur to a ranger. So we do not guess on your behalf: for anything wedding- or engagement-shaped we assume the fee is owed and handle the paperwork, and for a plain couple, family or maternity session we ask the directorate about your date and pass on the answer before you commit to anything.

Light here runs on the opposite clock to every coastal page on this site. There is no sunrise session, because the earliest opening time anyone publishes is 08:00 and in an Antalya summer the sun is long up by then. There is no golden hour either: the sun never falls low enough to reach a canyon floor, so the warm raking light a beach session is built around cannot happen down there. Instead you get soft, shadowless light for most of the day and hard shafts through the canopy once the sun is overhead, and the pool reads properly green rather than near-black in the hours either side of noon. It is one of the few places we actively want you there at midday.

The directorate publishes no opening hours at all. Guides list 08:00 to 19:00 in summer and 09:00 to 18:00 otherwise, with an earlier close in winter, so we ring the park and confirm the gate times for your date rather than trusting a page nobody has touched in three seasons. Arriving near opening buys the emptiest boardwalk and the coolest air.

The walk in is short, but it is a descent, and we would rather be accurate about that than sell you a flat promenade. The path drops into the canyon over stepped sections and boardwalk, all of it shaded, all of it damp, and slats that have sat under leaves since morning stay slippery long after the rest of Antalya has dried out. Flat shoes with real grip; heels are not the tolerable compromise here that they are on sand. We carry the gear down, work the upper pools first while you settle in front of the camera, and keep the main fall for the end, so nobody climbs those steps more often than they need to. A lens brought straight out of an air-conditioned car also fogs in canyon air, so the first few minutes go on letting the glass come up to temperature.

Couples and honeymooners are the obvious booking, but the park earns its place on two groups the beaches serve badly. Families get a defined path, railings above the water and shallow pool edges instead of open sea, plus shade that never breaks for children who wilt in the sun. Maternity sessions get the strongest argument of all, since nobody waits out July heat for the light to soften, though the steps are real: tell us how far along you are and we build the session on the upper level rather than the full descent. Wardrobe matters more than usual because the background is a single colour — white, cream, deep red, mustard and black lift cleanly off the green, while olive and forest tones sink into it. A flying dress rents for $20 on any package, and against wet dark stone and falling water it gives you nothing like the picture it gives you on a beach.

Set against Düden, the other waterfall we shoot, the difference is enclosure rather than scale. Düden is a cliff edge, an open horizon and spray blowing sideways off the sea: wide, bright, loud. Kurşunlu puts a roof of leaves over you, wet rock under you, and no horizon at all. If something on the sand is already booked, this is the contrast day rather than the same frame in a new postcode.

Every gallery is edited and back with you inside a week; Premium already includes the four-day priority delivery, and Mini or Classic can add it for $15. Mini at $39 buys 30 minutes at one spot — here, the main fall and the pool under it — with 25 edited photos and 5 of your choice retouched. Classic at $79 runs an hour across two spots, 50 edited and 10 retouched, which is what the upper pools want. Premium at $109 covers two hours, three spots, 70 edited and 10 retouched, and includes sunset: the canyon has none, so we spend the third stop and the last light on the coast on the way back. An extra location is $12. Weddings and events are billed hourly instead, $100 for the first four hours and $20 for each one after, and here the park’s own shoot fee sits on top and goes to the directorate, never to us.
