A Konyaaltı beach photoshoot is built around the one view that makes this stretch of coast unmistakable: turquoise, unusually clear water in front, the Taurus mountains rising almost straight up behind, and a long pebble shoreline running between the two. Because the beach runs for a long way, we’re rarely locked into one fixed spot — if a section is crowded or the light is falling awkwardly through the mountains, we simply walk further along rather than working around other people in the frame.

Golden hour is the clear standout here. As the sun drops behind the Taurus range, the water moves through deep blue, teal and gold, and the light turns soft enough to flatter every skin tone without harsh shadows. We usually schedule Konyaaltı sessions for the last hour or two before sunset, though a brighter, punchier midday look works too if that suits your itinerary better — either way we plan wardrobe and posing around whichever light you actually get that day.

This beach suits couples looking for a romantic, editorial feel and families who want a relaxed, candid set with the mountains doing the framing for them. A flying-dress session also works well on the open shoreline, where the fabric has real room to move in the sea breeze. It’s a less natural fit for anything wanting shade or architecture — a hot, exposed midday session or an old-town-style walk both belong elsewhere on this coast.

Because the shoreline is pebble rather than fine sand, footwear is worth a little thought — barefoot works fine for most of a session, and we know which stretches are gentlest underfoot for kids or anyone less keen on rocks, but sandals are worth carrying for the walk down. There’s little natural shade along the open beach, so midday sun is stronger here than in Kaleiçi’s shaded lanes, and the wind off the water is a genuine factor most evenings, worth planning wardrobe around.

Pack light, flowing fabrics that catch the breeze rather than fight it — linen, cotton, soft dresses — and avoid anything too structured or heavy.
